The WSJ has an interesting article on the difficulty Google is having monetizing YouTube. Some of the reasons include the enormous difficulty advertisers have understanding YouTube’s ad sales system. Google has identified some 105 problems with the system. Web Advertising Driving Interest In TNS

Germany’s GFK Holdings AG said it wants to make a better offer for Britain’s Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) than Martin Sorrell’s advertising group WPP according to Reuters. “We will and must make a better offer than WPP,” a GFK spokesman said.
WPP Group, the world’s second-largest advertising company, made a hostile 1.08 billion pound ($2.13 billion) bid for market research group TNS earlier on Wednesday, after its previous proposals were rejected.
TNS recently acquired Compete.com (a Searchnomics Award Winner), Hitwise, Quantcast and in some respects with comScore.

Online advertising revenues reached $5.8 billion for the first quarter of 2008 which represents a 18.2 percent increase over the same period in 2007 reports the IAB.

Healthline is the latest company to launch an ad network. The network will allow the health care advertisers to reach consumers in a far more targeted way. Yet another social network is shutting down. This time is it Verizon’s social network. The social network which let users write blogs, post photos, and discuss in forums, will close June 16, 2008. Advertising giant WPP has acquired a stake in Yield Software, a service that helps marketers shift their ad spend from traditional media to online advertising, reports MediaPost.
