The anticipated domain names of the recently merged Bank of America and Merrill Lynch are for sale on eBay. Website addresses bofalehman.com, bankofamericamerrilllynch.com, and bofaml.com have all been registered as potential domain names of the merged entity and are being auctioned off to the highest bidder. Clearly, the cybersquatter’s hope is to make a killing by selling the domain name(s) to the merged banks. But until then, the registrant is cashing in by running Google ads on the sites and redirecting traffic to eBay.

Comscore will soon release their report of Google advertising activity for February and Silicon Alley Insider says they already have the numbers that show Google with 515 million US paid clicks in February, up 3% year over year. Unfortunately for Google a gain of only 3% is not very impressive on the surface and is also somewhat misleading because we had 29 days in February this year, which means that ad clicks at Google were flat on a year to year comparison.

Google is cooking up more gadgety goodness with todayś release of the Google Spreadsheet gadget maker, which allows for very simple integration of a dynamic spreadsheets in websites. I undertand the application will also work with other Google docs, but probably spreadsheets will be the most useful and used implementation of this type of Google gadget.

Google Adwords which allows you to place ads on Google SERP pages has renamed the feature formerly known as “site targeting” to “placement targeting“. Whereas, site targeting allowed advertisers to target entire websites, placement targeting AdWords ads can now appear on precise subsections or positions on sites in addition to an entire website, select web pages, or a particular page position.
