Abstract:

The extent and natures of intellectual property rights and rightsenforcement are evolving with the expanding role of technology in theglobal community. More particularly, intellectual property issues arecentral to many aspects of new venture fund raising, softwareconsulting, subcontractor performance and entrepreneurial strategy.Software developers, professional independent contractors and hightech managers should have a general understanding of the interlinkedconcepts of copyright, patent, trade secret, trade dress, andtrademark in order to maximize their value and their compensation.Panelists will focus on the proper concerns of individual creatorsand corporate executives/founders in negotiating contractualrelationships and in retaining legitimate intellectual propertyrights. Panelists will address areas of particular concern to theWebGuild membership in a generous question and answer session.
