About the Speaker

Marvin Tanner is president, chief executive officer, and co-founder of Silicon Networks Corporation, a leading provider of Internet, Network service and training provider in East Bay. For the past five years, he has been the vice president of a nationwide Internet Service Provider, and he has been in the software industry since 1975.

Mr. Tanner is the co-author of Using Unix, Second Edition, published by Que Press. Twice a speaker at Comdex and the National Educational Computer Conference (NECC), he is also a professor of Information Technology and Graduate School of Business at the University of Phoenix for Northern California campus. In addition, Mr. Tanner has held teaching positions in computer science in community colleges at Laney, Merritt, Santa Barbara Business College and the College of Alameda. Lectured the complete MCSE program for Windows NT 4.0: Networking Essentials, Windows 95, Windows NT Server, Windows NT 4.0 in the Enterprise, TCP/IP, Internet Information Server, and Proxy Server, Novell NetWare 4.1, A+ Certification, Cisco Network Associate, Lotus Notes Domino, Solaris Administration and basic web tools.

With over twenty years of experience in network and software design at companies like Network Data Solutions Corporation; Mr. Tanner has been an innovator in on-line shopping, eCommerce, and software and multimedia development. He has also developed applications for companies including National Science Foundation, IBM partners and Hewlett Packard business partner.

Mr. Tanner holds a degree in Master of Public Administration: Management from the San Francisco State University.
