Brief Description

People Search Media, a fast-growing and profitable internet marketing company is looking for a Sr. Database Administrator (DBA). This is a full-time position located in downtown Palo Alto (next to the Caltrain station).

Job Summary
People Search Media, develops and maintains numerous Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases with up to terabytes of data. New products in development and planned for the future will expand our extensive library of information and require high availability under large request loads. The Sr. Database Administrator will analyze business and application requirements to design, implement and tune database servers to meet the demand of high transaction online services and in-house business intelligence. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in database administration, replication, disaster recovery planning, query optimization, bulk import/export and cross-database communication.

Responsibilities

Work with engineering, operations, and business teams on various projects as the expert for database server configuration and tuning including query & execution plan optimization.
Setup and maintain database replication, mirror and transaction log shipping for disaster recovery, reporting and fault tolerance.
Work with information technology to size, scale and specify requirements for server hardware and software.
Specify requirements for disk partitioning, fault tolerance and performance at the operating system level.
Monitor server performance using performance tools both inside and outside the SQL server to proactively plan upgrades and identify bottlenecks.
Bulk import/export of data from various sources in both real-time and offline situations to and from files, other databases and XML API feeds.
Work with developers to analyze query performance and identify problem areas considering data such as: execution plans, index coverage and SQL server statistics.

Qualifications

BS or higher in Computer Science or Mathematics.
5-10 years experience working on high-transaction Microsoft SQL databases required
Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization
Expertise in database server specification, performance tuning and analysis.
Expertise in disaster recovery planning and recovery
Expertise and experience working with MySQL is a plus
