Topic: Computer Crime on the Rise

Abstract:
Special Agents Dana Marino and David Raymond will discuss current trends in computer crime, how to prepare your organization for an attack, and how best to approach the issue once someone has performed a successful attack.

Thomas Knapp, CEO of LinuxSolve, will discuss Web infrastructure security problems related to the $45 billion lost in e-commerce revenues last year alone due to "hacking"(according to PriceWaterhouseCoopers). Mr. Knapp will address the top 10 internet security vulnerabilities and what your organization can do to stop them using the Linux operating system at the Web server level of internet infrastructure.

BIO of speakers:

Special Agent Dave Raymond: holds a B.S. degree in Law Enforcement Administration and a Wisconsin Police Officer Certification. He is a former naval officer with 12 years of service. Both Marino and Raymond are currently Special Agents with the FBI's Computer Intrusion Squad.

Special Agent Dana Marino: holds a joint B.S. degree in Chemistry and Biology and also has an MPA degree.


Thomas A. Knapp has worked in IT consulting, engineering, business development, and marketing positions in Silicon Valley for years. At EDS, Mr. Knapp consulted on worldwide implementation of CRM and ERP applications for Fortune 1000 companies like Philips and AMD, ensuring that security was married to performance. While with AMD, Advanced Micro Devices, Knapp launched the Company's Linux initiative, working closely with Linux software and hardware vendors in the market. Mr. Knapp also worked closely with server and workstation vendors to bring AMD based systems to market. Currently, Mr. Knapp is the CEO of LinuxSolve, a leading developer of secure server appliances for internet infrastructure. Mr. Knapp holds bachelors and masters degrees from San Jose State University.
