RIMM Cuts The Price Of PlayBook To $200. No Buyers.

Research In Motion is selling its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet for $200, and still there are few takers. The company has lined up a slew of retailers for the promotion. RIMM must be paying the retailers handsomely because based on the unit price they can’t be making much. I don’t know why RIMM pursued a consumer strategy with the PlayBook. Were they so dumb going head to head with Apple? RIMM’s sweet spot is the enterprise. Now its too late for that too. Enterprises are committed to the iPad and they won’t be supporting another device. So few Playbooks have been sold, I bet soon even RIMM won’t be supporting the it at some point.
