U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said Samsung’s Galaxy tablets infringe Apple’s iPad patents, dealing Samsung another blow.
Judge Lucy Koh, asked Samsung attorney Kathleen Sullivan if she could distinguish between Apple’s iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, which Koh held up for all the court to see.
Her reply, as first reported by Reuters: “Not at this distance, your honor.”
Apple has successfully blocked the sales of Samsung tablets in nine countries using a patent that belongs to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Yesterday, an Australian court slapped a temporary ban on the sale of Samsung’s latest computer tablet in that country. Samsung said if it misses out on Christmas sales, it future in that country will be difficult.
Apple sued Samsung in the United States in April, saying the South Korean company’s Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets “slavishly” copies the iPhone and iPad.
Samsung builds components for the iPad and iPhone, so it knows many of the inner works of the products which Apple provides them with.
