Larry just cancelled my keynote tomorrow! Sorry #oow11! Join me @ St. Regis AME Restaurant at 10:30AM! The show must go on! Sorry Larry!
Saleforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, who was supposed to give a keynote at OracleWorld this morning learned last night that he has been bounced from the speaker roster.
Benioff tweeted that he’s been bounced from the speaker’s roster and he’s blaming the decision directly on Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.
Benioff said, an Oracle employee told him the move was simply a change in schedule, and had more to do with the heavy attendance at the conference than anything else.
“Due to the overwhelming attendance at Oracle OpenWorld we had to make several session changes. The Salesforce.com Executive Solution Session was moved to Thursday at 8:00am in the Novellus Theatre.”
However, on the conference website there has been no change to Thursday’s schedule but Benioff has been removed from the Wednesday keynote.
Thursday is the last day of the conference, and there are no other speaker sessions on the roster for that day.
One possible reason could that at Benioff’s recent Dreamforce conference, he made a lot of references to the “false cloud,” and showed images of Oracle’s Exadata products when doing so. Ellison must have got wind of this and I assume he did not like it and hence the decision to bounce Benioff from the keynote.
Undeterred, Benioff has since set up an alternate venue, at a restaurant at San Francisco’s St. Regis Hotel where he will deliver his keynote, at the scheduled time.
