Salesforce.com’s CEO Marc Benioff will kickoff the company’s flagship conference Dreamforce 2011, on Tuesday, August 30th, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
The focus of the conference this year will the “Social Enterprise”. Benioff will elaborate how social media, business processes, and business tools are completely changing the way businesses communicate and share information with customers and employees.
Salesforce jumped on the social enterprise bandwagon along time ago. To get a sense of how fast Dreamforce has grow take a look at the above chart. When Dreamforce first launched they had 6,000 customers. Now they have over 100,000 customers.
In the meantime, Salesforce.com has evolved from a vendor of CRM suites to one that provides online collaboration and business productivity solutions.
Social media has become a major part of many companies’ approach to their customers. Companies are transforming themselves into social enterprises by leveraging social, mobile and cloud services. Salesforce’s offering help them to achieve that transformation.
“As the consumerization of IT becomes more prevalent, she said, more companies will find that their employees and their customers are relying on social media. The companies, to communicate fully with employees and customers, will have to follow suit”, said Laura DiDio, an industry analyst with Information Technology Intelligence Corp.
