By Daya Baran at August 24, 2011 0 Comments    Share

Steve Jobs has been elected as chairman of the board of Apple.

Apple’s Steve Jobs resigned as chief executive of the company he founded and helped turn into a tech titan.

In his resignation letter to the board and Apple Community Jobs said:

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come”

In the letter to the board, he requested that he be named chairman and Tim Cook his successor.

Tim Cook, the company’s chief operating officer who has filled in for Jobs during his medical leave, was named as his successor.
