Riviera Partners recently compiled salary data for our 80+ engineering and software developer placements from 2011. They summarized the findings in the graphic below, and the data speaks to the boom that is currently taking place in Silicon Valley.
They looked at several different categories including:
1. Average salary of an engineer in comparison to a startup’s current company funding stage
2. Average salary of an engineer in comparison to their years of engineering experience
3. Average salary of an engineer in comparison to where they received their degree
4. Average salary increase of an engineer after joining a startup

Come on. There is nothing to brag about. It's not a lot, really. I know several software engineers working in Austin and Atlanta making at least just as much. The state taxes and housing expenses are significantly lower there.

They aren't even close. Good luck making an off to someone with 5yrs exp at $88k.

well you cannot make any sense from averages. 100k in Kansas is different from 100k in california. Come up with something meaningful.
