
Social gaming start-up Kabam has raised $85 million in a new round of funding led by investors Google Ventures and Pinnacle Ventures, in the latest in a series of bigtime funding rounds for fast-growing tech companies.
Kabam, based in Redwood City, Calif., makes online social games aimed at hardcore gamers, with titles such as “Kingdoms of Camelot” and “Dragons of Atlantis.” The games are free to play on social networks such as Facebook; Kabam makes money through the sale of virtual goods within those games.
