Laidoff Need Not Apply: No Job For You If You Don’t Already Have One

By Daya Baran at March 07, 2011 0 Comments    Share

Some employers are posting job opening and are saying applicants need not apply if they have been laid off. Apparently this is very true with many tech jobs but I have not seen any evidence. However, CNBC found one such job posting on CareerBuilder.com saying “No Laidoff Workers” need apply. The official unemployment rate maybe 9% but the real unemployment is close to 17% and when you count in the under employed it is more like 21% – with 25 million people out there looking for work, employers can cherry pick anyway – it is not necessary to exclude someone because they were laidoff. Basically, these employers are telling job seekers – there is no job for you because you don’t have one!
