Google TV’s Death Ends Badly For Logitech

By Daya Baran at December 28, 2010 6 Comments    Share

Logitech’s adventure with Google turned out badly for the company after the death of Google TV.

DigiTimes, the leading industry website, reports that Gigabyte, the company charged with building the Google TV units for Logitech, has been instructed to stop production of them.

Investors flushed Logitech’s shares down the toilet on the news on one of the highest volumes in its history. Influential investment banker BNP Paribas (EPA: BNP) downgraded shares of Logitech from an “outperform” rating to a “neutral” rating.

Logitech went into the adventure thinking it would end up a world leader in digital television not the butt of jokes in the television industry.

  2. Again , a broad mis-characterization of the state of GoogleTV. Big difference between "revamp" and "death". The WebGuild publishing criteria appears to be "publish mistakes" then "reference those mistakes as truth"…

  5. Hey Daya, Why are you being mean, because it was bad for Logitech, Especially the egg on the phones – remove it and just write what happened thats all. Hope you take this constructively.

  6. Agreed. As a DISH employee I use the Logitech Revue with Google TV and couldn’t be happier. The interface is simple, the set up was a snap, and the integration is seamless. Not sure where others are having problems, but I certainly haven't had any.
