After the dot com bubble burst the commercial real estate vacancy rate in Silicon Valley was so high that there was enough room to fill 15 Empire State buildings. Today, it is more like 23 or 24 Empire State buildings. More>>

  2. I guess I'm lucky. I hv a rental private 3BR home in ESanJose, where a mexican american lady with 4 kids – no hubby, partly on welfare, occupies it. She pd on dec17 (always late — due dt is the 7th), so she pd the $50 penalty. She's bn there for 5 yrs…. In retrospect I shd have bought in a diff part of SJ, where the property value (appreciation) & rents wd have been higher.
