Omniture Founder (James Josh) To Leave Adobe

By Daya Baran at July 27, 2010 0 Comments    Share

Adobe announced that Josh James, chief executive of Omniture will be leaving at the end of July. Adobe acquired the web analyitics vendor in September 2009 for $1.8 billion.

No reason was given for James’ departure however it is unusual for the CEO of an acquired company to depart so fast given that Omniture is a big part of Adobe. Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said Omniture is doing well for Adobe and is already accounting for 10 percent of the company’s revenue.

This could spell frustration for Omniture customers because the company (Adobe) does not have in-house knowledge nor vertical experience to help solve their problems, provide thought leadership in the vertical nor advance the product. Further investors in Adobe should find it troubling given the large investment Adobe made in Omniture, without the captain on board Adobe will find it challenging to navigate the complex web analytics landscape.
