Lunch With Steve Jobs? Google CEO Served An Earful

By Daya Baran at March 29, 2010 6 Comments    Share

One of the biggest feathers in a CEO’s hat is to have a meal with Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs has never invited Google CEO, Eric Schmidt to have a meal with him. However, Schmidt went around telling everyone that he was having meals with Steve Jobs. Apparently, Steve Jobs once had tea with a group of Apple employees and Schmidt was present with his coffee and he kept referring to this incident as “having meals with Steve Jobs”. Schmidt was deeply troubled by the fact that Steve Jobs had never invited him to have meals so he prayed and longed for that day more than anything in the world. Last Saturday was Schmidt’s lucky day. That call came and Steve Jobs invited Schmidt to meet him at a cafe. Schmidt rushed to the cafe – he wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for anything in the world.

According to sources when Schmidt got there Steve Jobs asked him to “sit down”! Then Steve Jobs did all the talking. Schmidt could barely get a word in. Apparently, this is how the conversation would have sounded if the source could have heard it.

Steven Jobs: in charge – talking non stop.

Schmidt: “but eh”, Steve Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “maybe”, Steve Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “could I”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “have a”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “sip”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “of coffee”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “I mean”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Schmidt: “meal”, Steven Jobs kept talking.

Body language experts that analyzed this picture say, Schmidt is in the fetal position. Things soured between Steve Jobs, Google and Eric Schmidt after Google decided to launch their own phone. It is not known what the meeting was about but sources say that Schmidt got an ear full.

Oh Update: During the meeting Steve Jobs managed to have two cups of coffee, a glass of orange juice and a glass of water. Schmidt barely sipped his coffee.

  1. Bogus story. Please add some meat to it. I have been a fan of WebGuild but this is just being shallow.

  4. If Steve Jobs did ALL the talking, the ball was in the other court. I am confident that it was all meant to be a joke, at someone's expense. Probably the word "attitude" is missing in the American dictionary.
Steve Jobs all the more power to you…earn more and spread it around.
