New Speaker Added To Web Analytics: Measuring Social Media Engagement Event

By Reshma Kumar at August 10, 2008 2 Comments

A new speaker, Andreas S. Weigend, PhD, Principal, People & Data, Former Chief Scientist, Amazon.com, has been added to the panel for the next event on Web Analytics - Measuring Social Media Engagement on Wednesday, August 13. Joining Andreas on the panel will be Carla Bourque, VP Media & Entertainment, Nielsen Online, and John Squire, Chief Strategy Officer, Coremetrics.

This event will focus on the measuring user engagement on and off your web site. With the rise of social media, the conversation is taking place on blogs, social networks, forums, online communities, IM and chat clients. Companies need to measure how users are participating in the conversation in all the different places and the impact of that on their businesses. Companies need to be able to capture, mine, aggregate, and analyze data in the attention economy beyond the corporate web site and turn that data into actionable intelligence. By monitoring the net conversations, companies can identify pain points, opinions, and opportunities that would otherwise be missed. Learn from the experts about this cutting-edge topic and how it affects your business and how your business can be part of the conversation.

Who Should Attend
Web Analytics Professionals, Social Media Strategists, SEO Practitioners, Online Retailers and Online Advertisers.

The event will be held at the Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto. Cocktails and h’or d’oeuvres starting at 6pm. See you there!

I’d love to attend your event on Wednesday, but it’s a long way from London! Perhaps my eBook “The Social Web Analytics eBook 2008″ will proxy for my voice, and I look forward to reading your posts as proxy for my ears :-)

What is the difference between web mining and web analytics? What kind of degree or experience do you need to do web analytics? What kind of software do web analysts use? Do web analysts write code? Are they business analysts, but focused on web metrics? Is text mining / machine learning part of web analytics? What is the difference between web analytics and advanced web analytics?
