Missed Microsoft MIX Conferences?

If you missed Microsoft's MIX 08 Web Conference you may want to check out some of the videos of the sessions here (MS Silverlight download is required but quick). The MIX conference series is Microsoft's shining moment with respect to talking about online applications and "Web 2.0" trends.

As demonstrated by the required Silverlight download to view the vids I think Microsoft still is not fully "on board" in terms of the power of openness in new media, which would suggest strongly that you embed videos that do *not* require a proprietary player to be seen. However it really is to Microsoft's credit that they've made most of this expensive and usually sold- out conference accessible in simple online fashion to the global audience.

At the first of this series - Microsoft MIX 06, I remember feeling the irony of attending some of the later sessions which had only a handful of attendees but also had a spectacular arsenal of video cameras and sound equipment to tape them for global distribution. In some ways this was a sign of the sea change that may some day come to conference space, where we'll see far more 'virtual' than real attendees.
