Monitors and Your Productivity: Size Matters

By Joseph Hunkins at March 10, 2008 1 Comments

A study by the University of Utah has concluded that larger monitors lead to greater worker productivity. One finding was that workers using 24 inch monitors completed the test task 52% faster than those using 18 inch monitors.

So, if you’ve been longing for a bigger monitor now may be the time to buy. This study suggests that you’ll pay yourself or your company back via increased productivity in as little as a few days.

I have to agree. Got myself a Dell 24 inch screen about two years ago and will never work on anything smaller again.

Instead of putting windows on top of each other, switching back and forth all the time, you can view things side by side. At first, it can be a daunting, what to do with all that space. You quickly realise that you don’t need to maximize windows anymore. If you are doing any kind of serious dev work then you have to try it out.
