City WIFI denied over bogus health concerns

By Joseph Hunkins at March 22, 2008 0 Comments

Sebastopol, CA was about to get citywide free WIFI from a local ISP, but after initial approval by the Sebastopol city council the approval was rescinded after fourteen residents approached the council with a petition to stop the deployment – a petition citing concerns that the WIFI signal was a health concern.

Dale, writing for O´Reilly, has the details of this odd story, yet another in the human saga of worrying about spurious health issues while real and significant health issues, especially in the developing world, are scarcely noticed.
